Director
My main areas of focus are in circus theatre and group devising – both for indoor and outdoor performance spaces. I believe all physical things to be vehicles for human expression; working with objects, rhythms, character dynamics, breath, movement technique, and overarching dramaturgy to create sincerity and authenticity within live performance. Whether its comedy, tragedy, real stories, devised theatre, script work or Clown.
I trained in Physical Theatre at Circomedia and École Philippe Gaulier (both based in the pedagogy of École Internationale De Théatre Jacques Lecoq). My work draws on Le Jou (Play), physical skillsets (circus, aerial, acrobatics, juggling, dance, etc) and theatrical integration. I have learnt from excellent theatre makers such as Bim Mason (Circomedia, Mummer & Dada), Matt Feerick (Wet Picnic), Philippe Gaulier (École Philippe Gaulier) and Jos Houben (Complicité). I have also had the pleasure to work under or collaborate with inspiring practitioners such as Flick Ferdinando, Charlotte Mooney, Fraser Hooper, John Wright, Les Bubb and Sean Gandini.
As a d/Deaf creative I have a passion to tell silent stories without language barriers. With my background in circus and physical theatre I like to develop a strong “complicité” between performers to create cohesive ensemble work. I enjoy all stages of the creative process, whether it’s early R&D, running the rehearsal process, giving feedback at sharings, or acting as a facilitator or outside eye to encourage ideas.

Producer:
I have over 10 years of experience in bringing ideas from their ‘back of the napkin’ phase to delivery and live touring. In my capacity as managing director at Tit for Tat I have extensive experience across project planning, application writing, budget management, developing marketing assets, and tourbooking.
With over 15 years in the industry as an artist, I have a wide pool of professional contacts and partner networks to help generate project support and build collaborative cultural exchanges. Outside of my own work, I am keen to support individual artists realise their own ideas through mentoring, funding guidance, and project partnering.

Facilitator:
A facilitator exists to encourage, critique, support, take offerings, and keep the creative room rolling. It’s a little different to directing, in that the bottom line of creative autonomy belongs with the artist or creative group.
My background is in group devising and solo content creation. I bring a creative springboard to any given process in a very hands-off way. I establish the style of approach on a case by case basis – whether you need critical analysis towards realising your ideas, or creative curveballs and exercises to become unstuck in devising. The aim is to establish a ‘best practice’ tailored towards the needs of any given project, and to help ‘run the room’ whilst supporting artists or other project leaders as curators.
As a d/Deaf creative I care about inclusion, clear communication for participants, and establishing supportive spaces where people feel able to take creative risks.
I can also offer masterclasses or research sessions in circus theatre integration, clowning, ensemble games, physical theatre, physical comedy, prop/object devising (even for you non-jugglers out there), and act creation.
